Teknion's Dallas Showroom Receives LEED Silver, WELL Gold Certification

Teknion Corporation has announced that its new 7,023-square-foot (652.5m²) showroom in downtown Dallas has received LEED V4 Silver Certification and WELL Gold Certification.

“The dual pursuit of LEED V4 and WELL made for a very complex project,” said Tracy Backus, Director, Sustainable Programs, Teknion. “The building was a LEED Certified space, which was strategic in our decision making. Also, the community and art district gave us an incredible opportunity to meet many of the concepts of WELL. A perfect marriage for our team! With a focus on increased natural light, enhanced thermal comfort and rigorous attention to material ingredients and finish selection, we have a very satisfied internal customer and an incredible space to proudly share with our clients.”

The Dallas Showroom was designed to support health, well-being and sustainability, key factors in creating warm, welcoming and productive workplaces inspired by the principles of ethonomics. Teknion's showroom interior blends multiple workplace planning styles − from the casual and modern appeal of an open, fluid landscape, to more conservative, formal footprints − revealing the company's insight into the most significant trends currently shaping office design. One of these trends is connecting people to nature and recognizing the importance of creating an interior environment that connects humans to their natural surroundings.

The layout is open and free-flowing. It accommodates those individuals looking for private spaces of refuge as well as interactive spaces where groups of people can come together. Warmed by natural wood flooring and millwork, the elegant space supports multiple functions, including collaborative or touchdown work. Teknion's architectural glass wall systems create offices and conference rooms, while maintaining a sense of transparency and accessibility to natural light for all.

Designed to effectively present Teknion's diverse product offering, including the Luum Textiles and Studio TK brands, this warm, welcoming space also reflects the changing character of the contemporary workplace and reinforces the Teknion brand − a design-focused company that brings bold creative thinking and intelligent innovation to the international contract furniture market.

The location of the showroom was chosen for numerous reasons. It provides employees with a connection to the urbanization of a major city and landscape. Located on the 16th floor of the 2323 Ross Ave. KPMG Plaza building, it is surrounded by the Dallas Arts District and Klyde Warren Park, offering stunning unobstructed views of the surrounding Dallas skyline. The showroom − designed by Vanderbyl Design, with tvsdesign as the architect of record − includes the environmental elements of sunlight, cityscape and natural materials to enhance the experience and mood of those in the space.
