Kimball is set to open its newest 7,500 square-foot showroom in the heart of Atlanta's design district this May. Located in an award-winning Westside development, the showroom honors the Kimball heritage while showcasing the co-mingling of technology and craft that has defined the brand for decades. Featuring a dynamic urban hub that includes all the tools needed to enhance creativity and encourage collaboration, the showroom becomes a destination for designers who can utilize Kimball's vast assortment of fabric and finish options to create a harmonious, customizable design solution.
The environmentally conscious office furniture brand enlisted architecture firm ai3 to create a tailored experience for designers and their clients. The firm set out to celebrate Kimball's past, present, and future. ai3 embraced the company's heritage as a former piano manufacturer, inspired by the innerworkings of a piano including – the delicate cable guardrail design wrapping the upper mezzanine; the bold, graphic black and white wallcovering in the conference room; the floating steel “belt” around the mezzanine; the floating platforms beneath the staircase and at the feature display; and the steel reveal that wraps the exposed concrete masonry units throughout the entire space. The showroom's raw, industrial aesthetic provides a compelling background to showcase the Kimball brand with an industrial, open floorplan, celebrating the company's mission to create relevant workplace solutions that honor craft and forward-thinking design.
“Our Atlanta showroom will be more than a place where we showcase product and the Kimball brand,” said Wendy Murray, director of marketing for Kimball. “Through a thoughtful process of working with the design community and understanding the evolution of today's workplace, we have designed a space that is focused on inspiring creativity and introducing new ways of working. The intent is to provide a creative workspace that will give designers a place to bring clients and experiment with ideas.”
Located at 2282 Defoor Hills Road NW, Atlanta GA 30318, the showroom is open to industry trade by appointment only between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
