The employee, not the employer, is dictating the future of work

Walking through JLL’s Chicago headquarters this week, I saw a newly installed collage of photos spanning the length of an entire hallway. The office recently underwent a transformation, so I am used to seeing new things every time I am in town. However, this collage made me pause for a moment. What struck me was the energy present in the photos. Whether the shots were of our people at work in various spaces, collaborating in the office, at volunteer outings, happy hours, or industry conferences, it was clear that our culture was alive and thriving.

Our people are everything. They are our brand and our culture. Happy people do better work and enjoy more fulfilling careers and lives. We’re all human after all, and a more human workplace is more comfortable, more energizing and more likely to inspire great work, and great outcomes for our clients.

JLL’s recently released Future of Work model dedicates a significant amount of attention to a company’s ability to create a memorable day-to-day for employees. We call it “The Human Experience” and we believe it’s going to completely change the way organizations attract and keep top talent. The Human Experience draws from a global study of more than 7,000 employees of JLL clients.
