Carl Magnusson's Latest Chair for Allseating

“TO ME, DESIGN IS FUNCTION WITH CULTURAL CONTENT. WITH THE FUNCTIONS OF ERGONOMICS AND MECHANICS IN PLACE, IT IS THE CULTURAL CONTENT OF INVITING FORMS, MATERIALS AND FINISHES THAT COMPLETE THE DESIGN. IT HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO VISUALLY COMPLEMENT THE SURROUNDING FURNITURE AND COMPLETE THE ARCHITECTURAL SPACE.”

– CARL GUSTAV MAGNUSSON

During NeoCon this week in Chicago, seating manufacturer Allseating debuted Lyss, a new design by renowned furniture and accessories industrial designer Carl Magnusson. Lyss is being presented as a boardroom, lobby, lounge, library or "think tank" space seating solution. It's Magnusson's first collaboration with Allseating.

As is typical of Magnusson's designs, the new chair is elegant, simple and sophisticated. It has a clean contemporary aesthetic that suggests mid-century modern. The chair is available with a real wood base, which is complemented with a white poly shell backing and a rich gray interior - giving it a rich two tone effect. A brushed or polished aluminum base is also available for spaces following a more traditional office design scheme.

Allseating also intends to enter the lounge seating and occasional table categories this year as well.

The Lyss chair will be shipping this fall.
