London studio Industrial Facility has designed a modular seating system for US furniture company Herman Miller that hooks together to turn "a communal gathering area into a lecture theatre". Sam Hecht and Kim Colin of Industrial Facility created Plex using six elements that can be combined to form armchairs, sofas, ottomans and benches.

David Rockwell, FAIA, who leads the firm Rockwell Group based in New York, will be a NeoCon keynote speaker, presenting at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14. Rockwell’s prolific career has included interiors for numerous hotels and restaurants, as well as theater sets. He was the 1998 Designer of the Year, and his firm won four Interiors Awards from Contract over the past two years. In Milan in April, Rockwell exhibited his first furniture collection, Valet, for Stellar Works. Contract interviewed Rockwell, who has also designed a collection for Knoll, called Rockwell Unscripted, which debuts at NeoCon.
Brooklyn design firm UHURU have expanded beyond their handmade furniture to create a division of custom commercial furniture called UHURU Contract. The company will bring the same high quality standards they’re known for to the new endeavor, where they’ll specialize in full custom furniture and fixtures for hospitality, commercial, retail, and restaurant clients. Teknion Studio announced that it has adopted Studio TK as its worldwide brand name.
