Everything about the new Zurich North America Headquarters is big. Very big. The 783,800 square foot cantilevered building spans 11 stories and holds nearly 3,000 employees.
The project took 2 full years to complete and required an onsite workforce of 400 people at its peak. For those of you not in the construction industry, that’s a ridiculous amount of human activity to manage, and it makes this fact all the more impressive: there were zero lost time incidents in over 200,000 working hours.
No expense was spared in the building’s environmental design, earning Zurich HQ the revered LEED Platinum Certification, the highest possible rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. 4,300 native trees and shrubs were planted throughout the project to minimize its environmental impact, and the building features over an acre of green roof space.
The building boasts everything from a cutting-edge fitness center to numerous multi-floor atriums that provide employees with massive amounts of natural light and pristine views of the 40 acre corporate campus, which includes numerous walking trails for those who like to stretch their legs.
Zurich sought to create a new gold standard for suburban workplace development, and their new North American headquarters is without a doubt worthy of global recognition.
